[72] Sahar Mustafah, author of The Beauty of Your Face

“I’m so in awe of women who go out everyday in quite a volatile climate since 9/11 and are still showing up and not surrendering or relinquishing their hijab.” – Sahar Mustafah

Sahar Mustafah is a daughter of Palestinian immigrants, a complex inheritance she explores in her work. Her prize-winning short story collection Code of the West (2017) is followed by her first novel The Beauty of Your Face (2020). She writes and teaches outside of Chicago.

Renee Powers founded Feminist Book Club in 2018 to provide a space for intersectional feminists to learn, grow, and connect. When not reading or running the biz, you can find her drinking coffee and trying unsuccessfully to teach her retired racing greyhound how to fetch. Favorite genres: feminist thrillers, contemporary literary fiction, short stories, and anything that might be described as "irreverent"
