What are the Zodiacs?

12 astrological, zodiac signs have been studied for centuries by analyzing the position of the Sun, Moon, and planets. These signs are determined on an individual basis based on a person’s birth date and location. An individual’s Zodiac sign describes what their specific characteristics are, such as personality traits, strengths and weaknesses, desires, and much more. There are so many layers that make up an individual’s zodiac, like their Sun sign, Moon sign, and rising. The sun represents our ego and intentions, the moon depicts our emotional nature, and the ascendant/rising portrays the type of energy that is put out into the world.

In this post, I will give a tiny glimpse into the characteristics of each of the 12 sun signs and pair it with a book recommendation based on those traits in a truly scientific and methodological way. Trust me, I’m an astrology girlie.

The Signs

Aries (March 21-April 19)

If your birthday falls between these dates, then chances are you have an adventurous and wild side. You are a trailblazing, domineering, dedicated, and competitive person. For this reason, your adventurous, fiery side would probably enjoy The Hunger Games series by Suzanne Collins.

Taurus (April 20-May 20)

If you’re a Taurus, you are tough and reliable. Friends find you stable, dependable, and thoughtful. However, you don’t like change, and you typically have an all-or-nothing energy battery. A great book for you to pick up would be A Rogue of One’s Own by Evie Dunmore.

Gemini (May 21-June 20)

As a Gemini, you have a curious and outgoing nature. You are lively, inventive, and adventurous. Your restless and extra curious energy, as well as being one of the most adaptable signs, makes The Benevolent Society of Ill-Mannered Ladies by Alison Goodman an obvious choice.

Cancer (June 21-July 22)

Where are my fellow Cancers at? We are harmonious, emotional, observant, and protective. These qualities also give us psychic-like abilities, and all these traits are perfectly represented in The London Séance Society by Sarah Penner.

Leo (July 23-August 22)

Leos are passionate, loyal, and dramatic beings. If you’re a Leo you are used to commanding a space, you are also ambitious, reliable, generous, and warm. Your ambitious, loyal, and warm spirit is portrayed well in Icebreaker by Hanna Grace.

Virgo (August 23-September 22)

Virgos, you already know that you are the logical, perfectionist of your group. You are the fix-it sign who is pragmatic, trustworthy, conscientious, and ritualistic. Please go pick up Back in a Spell by Lana Harper, this will satisfy all your emotional and intellectual needs. I reviewed Back in a Spell before if you want some deeper thoughts my Virgo peeps.

Libra (September 23-October 22)

As a Libra, you value justice and fairness. You are also charismatic, clever, and convincing. I believe you will thoroughly enjoy Seventy Times Seven: A True Story of Murder and Mercy by Alex Mar.

Scorpio (October 23-November 21)

Scorpios, a fellow water sign, you are charming and a bit aggressive. You are powerful, meticulous, and extremely loyal. For these reasons, I feel like you can relate to Margot in Drunk on Love by Jasmine Guillory.

Sagittarius (November 22-December 21)

Oooh, you lucky people who share the same sign as Taylor Swift! As a Sagittarius, you are known to be optimistic dreamers who are dedicated, idealistic, and ambitious. These traits complement the story in The Invisible Life of Addie LaRue by V.E. Schwab.

Capricorn (December 22-January 19)

Capricorns, you are determined and consistent. Your self-assured behavior and faithful qualities allow you to make deep connections. Your hard-working nature also makes it easy for you to follow your dreams and lead. The essence of a Capricorn shines through in Love on the Brain by Ali Hazelwood.

Aquarius (January 20-February 18)

If you are an Aquarius, your analytical and innovative nature precedes you. You are individualistic, witty, and sometimes emotionally detached. Because of this, Stone Cold Fox by Rachel Koller Croft is a must-read.

Last, but certainly not least –

Pisces (February 19-March 20)

Pisces, how I love your emotional and sensitive sides. You are intuitive, romantic, and extremely empathetic. I think you would appreciate The Soul of an Octopus by Sy Montgomery.

Please, share what your sign is and your favorite book! What books would you recommend to the zodiacs?

Florida born and raised. Jordy began her professional career as an officer in the Coast Guard but has recently transitioned into the civilian world. When she is not obsessing over her fur babies, you can find her at the beach reading or staying up late to embroider while watching the latest true crime docuseries.
