Read Language as Liberation by Toni Morrison with Feminist Book Club This year, we’ve been exploring a new way to Read & Resist through our Towards Liberation series. This series weaves together author Q&As, lectures, and discussion groups, all centered on creating meaning and driving actionable change in the world.
In 2025 we took a deep dive into Let This Radicalize You by Kelly Hayes and Mariame Kaba, Parable of the Sower by Octavia E. Butler and Love In A F*cked Up World by Dean Spade.
This year we’re kicking off with a 5 week teach-in and reading series to dive into Language as Liberation: Reflections on the American Canon. Toni Morrison believed that the classroom was where language could still surprise, unsettle, and liberate. This series invites participants to read not for comfort or certainty, but for clarity, responsibility, and possibility.
