This year, we are excited to try a new way to Read & Resist with you all! Towards Liberation is a series of lectures, author Q&As, discussion groups, and more, all centered around bringing meaningful, actionable change to the world.

We aim to cover a broad spectrum of topics, so that we can more closely examine different areas of society and our lives, dream up the future we want, and work to create it together.

We’ll start with a discussion with one of the authors of Liberating Abortion, which recenters people of color in the history of abortion. We will chat not only about the past and present of abortion, but specifically discuss ways we can all be taking action towards liberating abortion for all.

Then we’re rewinding to one of our monthly picks from last year: Let This Radicalize You. We are diving in deeper this time around, breaking up the text into chunks and discussing as a group what we can take away from the lessons it holds. 

Given everything that has unfolded over the last couple of years, we thought Let This Radicalize You would be the perfect book to start with. Though we hosted moderated chats for it last year, we know that sometimes it’s essential to take a closer look at the text, listen to what others are getting from it, and share ideas about how to take inspired action in the real world.

Throughout the year, we will lead other discussion groups as well – sometimes returning to a book we’ve featured in the past and sometimes choosing one that would likely not end up as a monthly pick or in a special edition box. After all, just because something doesn’t line up neatly with a theme doesn’t mean it’s not worth discussing.

The events and discussion groups within our Towards Liberation series will all be hosted in our online community. Be sure to get in there if you’d like to join us!
